why? cause it makes me happy and it speaks to me...it says "old fashioned". that's why i recently had my fingers and toes painted in this color. hmmm, come to think of it, that might look especially good while holding a an actual "old fashioned" in honor of national cocktail month...

after wrapping up a proper cinco de mayo weekend, i came across this: the museum of the american cocktail has declared may 13th world cocktail day. according to the website, this year's celebration will take place the weeks surrounding May 13th (not just the day of). that means we should be celebrating this week and next week and probably the following week to really show our appreciation for the rich history of the cocktail. cheers!

as many of you know, leslie feist is one of my very favorite musicians. her new album the reminder is out today and i suggest you go get it. and by "go get it" i mean do it the old fashioned way and go to your local record shop and buy it. cause what makes this album extra special (besides a batch of beautiful songs) is that my good pal simone designed the album art and it turned out stunning! and if you missed it i posted a video for "1234" a while back so check it out. i promise it will make you smile.

speaking of reminders, i am in desparate need of some new sunglasses and couldn't help but notice the recent comeback of the ray ban. while contemplating whether or not i want to get a new pair i was reminded of this photo from 1986:
guess who's rocking the white wayfarers? yes, that would be me, the only kid in tennis camp who had to wear sunglasses. now if i could only find the picture of my 3 year old self with the rollers in my hair and my yellow "joe cool" snoopy tee...
